FYI,
I am
sure that you already know of this Gallery. But just in case I sent it
anyway.
Mary
Mary,
you gotta visit this art gallery, owned by Robert C. Scott, M.D. and
Lamont Nickens-both brothers. They contribute a percentage of their sales
to an AIDS clinic in Zimbabwe that Dr. Scott is heavily involved with. Their
prices are reasonable, and they buy directly from the Artists in
Zimbabwe. It is called Stoneridge Gallery and shares space with Samuel's
Gallery. They are located in a great looking building that was
formerly an architects business. It has two floors, and it is an
excellent venue for showing art; they have also rented space to non profits for
fund raisers.
The
address of the gallery is: 424 2nd Street, across from Q's Joint (which is part
of Everett and Jones), and their phone number is: 444-7466. Gloria and I
went there yesterday, at Reygan's (our daughter) insistence, and ended
up purchasing a sculpture, made of Springstone. I think
Reygan's real motive was to get us to purchase a painting for her-we'll see.
The gallery's hours are Mon.,Tues.,Weds., by appointment only, and Thurs., Fri., Sat., Sun. from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Please visit and spread the word,
Mahlon
